Hello,
we are planing a backcountry skiing tour of four or five days. Is it possible to do this in the Polish Tatra mountains? Were exactly?
We would be glad to read about some advices.
And here an attempt in Polish:
Chcemy jezdic na nartach "backcountry" w Tatrach 4-5 dznej. Gdzie mozno spedzac jaki urlop? Dziekuje za rade!
Hi Karin,
Quite a good Polish!
Please write something more about your skiing abilities and expectations, as you can actually do everything here that you do in the Alps (from relaxing tours along the lower parts of the valleys to steep and demanding couloir descents) - this is just the scale what differs Tatras from the Alps
When are you arriving? How many people?
Have you got a car?
Where do you want to sleep - Zakopane or...?
Yes it is possible. Backcountry skiing in Tatra Mountains is allowed only in close proximity to hiking trails. God to have Polish Tatra map 1:25 000. If you are interested we will be tomorrow mornig in Zakopane at about 8:00 a.m so we can show you and explained most important things about skiing and advice good routes to ski. We will be going skiing in Kondracka Valley so if you want to go with us you can call any time +48 693 344 936
Hello Karin:)
You can ski everywhere in Tatras where are trails are marked and second way - where climbing is allowed - even there are no marked trails.
If you want I also can help:) I am coming to Zakopane on wednesday and thursday:)
You can call or email +48 784076948 /sebastian (attt) fijak.pl
Best regards:)
For backcountry skiing I recommend you West Tatras, especialy aeras of Chocholowska Valley. There you can make some trips around Chocholowska Hut. Also Gasienicowa Alm and Kondratowa Alm are possible for backcountry but a liitle more difficult. Other areas are good for technical skiing not for typical backcountry. Regards
Grześ/slov. Lucna/ is a great and easy trip:), but remember to check avalanche forecast:

Hello,
thank you very much for your comments. Unfortunatly I am living far away so I am not able to come now to join some tours. Although I would like to do this. My brother is an excellent skier, I am normal average and the third of us is skiing o.k. My brother and I also have ski touring experience. We have been in the Krkonose mountains last year and liked it very much. Now we feel like to discover more of the "East" (We are from Germany, west and east). We are getting older and want to do back country and not alpinism.
